Crayon art: LDS Young Women mutual activity

We had an arts and crafts night a few weeks ago at mutual. The girls hot-glued pieces of broken crayons to canvases, then used a hairdryer to melt the crayons. The girls then hot-glued on felt flowers — to make the melted crayon look like flower stems.

 crayons!

Year Two date

For our second anniversary Nathaniel and I headed down to Bricktown, wandered the canal and enjoyed fondue at The Melting Pot. The dinner was both delicious and so fun. It felt like a mini staycation. We were both so relaxed after dinner — and totally stuffed!

 Delicious!

We had a blast...we'll definitely have to go back!

Vernet to Villon

I wrote a story about the local art museum's most recent art exhibit and had the funnest time chatting about drawings with art professor Victor Koshkin-Youritzin. He sent me a thank you email after the story ran and it made me smile:
Dear Hannah,
I cannot thank you enough for the splendid article you wrote in the June 8th Norman Transcript about the exhibition I organized for OU's Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, "Vernet to Villon: Nineteenth-Century French Master Drawings from the National Gallery of Art."  I not only deeply appreciate the time you so kindly took to interview me. but also your commitment to accurate reporting in your thoughtful , excellently written article.   And the visual impact of your coverage was stunning!  We had an overflow, standing-room-only crowd at my lecture that evening and about 500 people at the reception that followed, thanks in significant part for your and the Norman Transcript's extensive and so generous coverage of the event.  On behalf of the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, please accept my--and our--deepest gratitude!  I shall send a copy of your article to the National Gallery for their files.  You might be pleased to know that our show's catalogue is not only being sold through the FJJMA's gift shop, but also though the NGA's bookstore, which has placed our book on their website.
I hope that you and your husband have a wonderful summer!
With gratitude, and with all my warmest best wishes to you and to everyone else at the Norman Transcript who may have been involved in allowing us to receive such beautiful, effective coverage,
Victor
Always,

Two Years

Nathaniel,

Happy two-year anniversary! The last two years have not been perfect — we've both had our share of ups and downs — but it's an adventure I wouldn't trade for the world. I am constantly amazed by your zeal for life, and endlessly grateful for the sweet, uncomplicated happiness you bring in to my life. On my worst days, you are there to remind me of what's important — and to make me laugh, of course! On my best of days, you're there to celebrate the simple joys of life with me. After that first moment we kissed, I was absolutely smitten with you and since then...nothing has changed. Here's to forever — I love you!

Always,
