Of Fleeting Moments, Babies and Documentation

Some days I don't want to record my thoughts. Sometimes they feel sweeter when they are fleeting, brief and only for that moment.

I don't feel that way about babies though...they need all the documentation they can get. Like this little guy, my handsome nephew, Ethan:

That's my mother-in-law in the background, btw -- gotta love her.

Nathaniel making Ethan laugh. Can you tell he's his mother's son?

What things/moments do you always have to capture? How do you document your memories?

Always,

I totally understand how you feel! I'm a journalist, too, and I feel like I worry so much about documenting things between blogging and journalism that sometimes I forget to actually experience things as they're happening!

BTW, hi! I'm your newest follower. I found your blog through 20SB, and I thought we had a lot in common.

I agree with you 110%! I was an avid journal keeper when I was a kid...I'm talkin' two journals at a time (why? I don't know) I also took picture after picture after picture. And now...a blog. And of course, the professional side, like you said. I have to remind myself to slow down and enjoy the moment NOW, and not worry so much about how I'll communicate it with myself and others later. It really is a love-hate relationship, I suppose!

Where are you working? What kind of journalism? Do you have a focus? I LOVE meeting other journalists! :)

Thanks for following, Ashley! :)

Too cute! And I agree about thoughts vs babies. Babies need documentation! The photo in the upper right corner is my favorite :)

How did he get so big! My goodness time flies by. Firstly, he is adorable. Secondly, you two are gonna be great parents. It is nice to babysit and get some practice in with nieces and nephews.

Btw, I love your MIL in the background! xx

I know! Thank you! My sister-in-law and brother-in-law just took him to Miami, FL to go visit family this last week. We picked them up from the airport yesterday and he had cut his first tooth! He was also way more active then he was just a week ago...it's amazing how rapidly babies grow and develop! I sure hope we'll be good parents...I'm excited for that adventure, whenever it comes.

And I know! She is a HOOT! My husband and his family make a lot of noises to the baby, and sing a lot of made up songs...I wonder if it is just their family or a "Cuban" thing, haha! I doubt it's a Cuban thing, but it still cracks me up!
